Sustainable by nature

High-quality and ecological garments for a good feeling and well-being. Textiles that are produced regionally and that you can wear with a clear conscience. Clothing made from renewable raw materials and free from harmful substances: this is what we mean by sustainability. For us, sustainability also means taking responsibility for the people behind our products. For example, with fair working conditions and fair pay. We are committed to this in our social, environmental and policy declaration.

Our textile chain

Merino wool from Patagonia

Merino wool from Patagonia

Our merino sheep live freely in the vast landscapes of Patagonia, perfectly adapted to the climatic and ecological conditions. The result: wool, not only from happy animals, but also from certified organic livestock farming. The wool is carefully combed on site to obtain long, smooth and even fibres - for a particularly soft and comfortable feel on the skin.

From thread to fabric

From thread to fabric

Once in Germany, the wool top is given a natural treatment that allows the garments to be machine washed (on a wool cycle at a maximum of 30°C with wool detergent). The wool and silk fibres are then dyed and spun into yarn – the basic material for our natural textiles. Our dyes are free from heavy metals and harmful AZO substances. Everything for a pure natural product.

Made in the Swabian Alb

Made in the Swabian Alb

Our long-standing partners on the Swabian Alb are true masters of their trade. With a great deal of experience and attention to detail, they knit high-quality fabrics from our yarn in the customary ENGEL quality. Tradition meets innovation – something you can see and feel in every single item of clothing.

Before any further processing of the fabrics, we wash them as ecologically and careful as possible. We deliberately choose not to use substances that could harm people and the environment.

Tailored with care

Tailored with care

The careful cutting of the fabrics takes place in the Swabian Alb. We use optimised and efficient cutting patterns to make optimum use of the fabric panels with the goal to minimise waste. The great side benefit? Sustainability in every practice – down to the smallest detail. And we love to get creative and find a meaningful solution for the cutting leftovers that are unavoidable. Here, you can find out more about our special and unique Reborn series and other creative recycling projects.

Sewn and completed in Pfullingen

The garments come to life in our manufacture in Pfullingen. With great skill and dedication, our talented sewers stitch the pieces together and add buttons, zips and other charming and practical details. Every stitch counts – for quality that looks good and feels even better.

Quality control and shipping

Quality control and shipping

Before our products make their way to you, we put every single item through its steps. Seams, buttons, zips – everything has to be perfect. Tags and labels are then applied and the goods are packaged in an environmentally friendly way. (Link to our Instagram Reel, where we explain our packaging). Your new favourite item will arrive safely and sustainably.

Natural quality - our partners

We are proud of our long-standing relationships and friendships with our partner companies and suppliers. United in our way of thinking and acting, we are one big family, working closely together on a base of trust, experience and shared values. We value our local cooperations as equals - and thus create products together with heart and mind.

We are family – sustainable from beginning to the end

Our suppliers and partners

A conscious way of working in harmony with nature – that’s the daily focus for us and our contractors. We are so proud that 95 % of our clothes are labelled with important certificates: GOTS (Global Organic Textile Standard) and IVN Best. All this goes to show that we do not only produce our clothes eco-friendly, but also with a great social responsibility. (by the way: the remaining 5 % are actually as equally environmentally friendly and socially conscious produced as the other products. But sometimes little details like lace or rubber bands prevent a qualification for certification). A very essential part of the ENGEL philosophy is our close partnership with regional and certified family businesses. Small, local companies that live and share our values. All of our suppliers are within a range of maximal 40 kilometres to us. That’s how we minimise transport routes, go easy on the environment and can ensure that all of our high standards are met.

Made in Germany

When choosing an ENGEL Product, you also choose to support regional businesses and to contribute to important steps of protecting the nature. We produce our clothing fully and solely in Germany, answering to the highest environmental and social requirements. We guarantee, from the extraction of our raw materials to the finished product, that every step is sustainable and fair. Our partnership with our suppliers is based on trust, mutual respect and a common goal: to make clothes that don’t only look good, but also does good – for us and our environment.
